Artlune is honoured to showcase the abilities and tenacity of our artistic community as Women's Day draws near, especially in the case of one of our incredible female artists, Zoya Deb. In this exclusive Q&A, Zoya discusses her thoughts on juggling several responsibilities, overcoming obstacles as a female artist, and her favourite accomplishments from the previous year.
Q: How do you manage all of your responsibilities and yet find time for your art?
Zoya: My creative haven is where I express myself and find comfort. In spite of my many hats, I make time to paint at least twice a week in order to be inspired and creative.
Q: What is the nature of your previous partnerships with Artlune?
Zoya: My art was included in the 'Nostalgia and Futurism' group exhibition at AIFACS, which was curated by myself. It was a fantastic chance for me to exhibit my artwork with skilled colleagues.
Q: As a female artist, what obstacles have you had to overcome?
Zoya: I, too, have struggled to be taken seriously as a female artist, especially when dealing with unwanted advances. Regretfully, it's a typical obstacle in our culture.
Q: Any advice for the aspiring female artists?
Zoya: Remain firm and don't allow anyone to make you feel less valuable. Let your creativity be a voice for breaking down barriers because it speaks loudly.
Q: What is your proudest achievement over the past year?
Zoya: Displaying my artwork at esteemed locations such as AIFACS in New Delhi and Luna Grande in Istanbul has been very satisfying and proof of my development as an artist.
Q: What are some female artists that you find inspirational?
Zoya: I am tremendously inspired by the work and tenacity of two well-known female artists: Frida Kahlo and Helen Frankenthaler.
Q: As a female artist, have you encountered any unfavourable stereotypes?
Zoya: While I've been lucky enough not to encounter any unfavourable stereotypes thus far, many female artists regrettably have to deal with this reality.
Let's commemorate the unwavering spirit of female artists like Zoya Deb on Women's Day, whose talent and tenacity continue to enhance our world.
